Spud Science!!

In keeping with our topic of Hunger and the Irish Famine, our P7s conducted a science experiment, investigating which preserving agent out of water, a salt, sugar or vinegar solution would be best to maintain the freshness of a potato. Firstly the girls discussed the equipment  and utensils they would need; they agreed in groups the method they would follow and discussed as a class what is the concept of a fair test. Finally the girls made predictions as to which solution would be best. Now our P7 scientists just have to wait for nature to take its course, before they can record their results and make their conclusions…
