Primary 1 "Play is work"
Now our P1 girls are settled in to their new class. It is evident that their new routines and listening skills are becoming tuned to the demands of P1.
Just on Friday morning I went to visit them in the playroom. The concentration on their faces was highly evident. The girls were engrossed in their "work". The girls were developing hand eye co-ordination, teamwork, fine and gross motor skills, language as well as creativity and negotiation with others.
Being in school and working with others is a skill some adults find hard to manage. These skills begin in play and will develop throughout the years and academic life in Mercy Primary.
