P5 visit Allen and Overy

The girls in primary five had a wonderful time during their visit to Allen and Overy which is a business situated near the “big fish” in Belfast. They were welcomed there by Una Daly who is a past pupil of Mercy and by David who organises the Time to Read visits to school each Thursday. Their first activity was to match photos to flags belonging to countries where Allen and Overy have other offices. This was followed by a marvellous selection of goodies for break which was greatly appreciated.

The second activity was to try to locate all thirty two countries which have Allen and Overy offices on a map of the world. This was a little tricky so some help was available from volunteers who work there. There was a wall display of clocks showing the time in a number of these countries. By now it was time for some fresh air so the girls were allowed to go outside onto a balcony on the sixth floor overlooking the river Lagan. Passing tourists waved to our girls who enjoyed picking out other buildings which they recognised. Finally there was an exciting quiz which was organised by Will. Everyone received a certificate for taking part and a goodie bag with lots of interesting treats. The girls send big thank you to David, Una (can you find her in the group photo?) and all the volunteers for giving them such a fantastic time.
